30 Days of Thanks – Day 7: Music

It seems music has been around since the very beginning of the world as we know it. No matter where we are from, music connects us to one another.

I enjoy many styles of music and choosing just one song was easier than I expected.

I simply asked myself : What song am I thankful for? What would I like people to listen to when they celebrate my life, once I’m gone?

The song that came quickly to mind is Morning Has Broken, sung by Cat Stevens.

The first time I really listened to this song was at a Chiropractic Masters seminar in Toronto where they were showing a slideshow at the same time. It started with a picture of planet Earth from space and gradually got closer and closer until it got to the tiniest particle in the universe.

Since I can’t share the slideshow that moved me back then, here is Cat Stevens, singing Morning Has Broken back in 1976.

What is your song? What song marked your life? Please leave a comment with the title and why. Who knows, we might discover some gems with your help.

30 Days of Thanks – Day 6: Clients

I thought of today’s reason to be thankful as I was preparing to meet a client of mine for breakfast. I have face to face meetings once in a while with my local clients and I meet my out of town clients at least once a year.

Without clients or customers, we wouldn’t have a business. My Client-Virtual Assistant relationships are part of the foundation of my business.

Like all relationships, some last longer than others but all of these relationships have brought their share of learning.

I learned about myself.
I learned how to interact with others.
I learned what my limits are and how to respect them.
I learned how to ask for what I needed.
I learned who my ideal clients are.
I learned how to be an ideal client to my own vendors.
I learned to say no.
I learned to make good promises and deliver more.
I learned that being authentic makes me even more attractive. I don’t have to pretend to be appreciated.

So there you have it, my clients from the past, the present and the future are my reason to be thankful today.

P.S.: If you’re doing the 30 days of thanks, please leave your url in the comments so I can visit and read what you are thankful for.

30 Days of Thanks – Day 1 …5

Yes, it took me 5 days to decide to play along with my friends.

All I have to do is simply share reasons why I’m thankful on my blog, Facebook or Twitter, for 30 days.

November 2009 marks my 7th year as a Virtual Assistant and I have plenty reasons to be thankful. The timing for this fun challenge is just perfect.

Today, and everyday in November, I will write a short post to show my gratitude.

I have some catching up to do so here are 5 persons, things or reasons I am grateful for.

1. Stacy Brice for being the first Virtual Assistant, for inspiring thousands of Virtual Assistants just like me and for her authenticity.

2. My last boss, Dr Pierre Bernier D.C., for lending me The Portable Coach that started it all.

3.  Thomas J. Leonard for writing The Portable Coach and for his contribution to the coaching community.

4. My husband, Mario, for being by my side for over 10 years now, long before the beginning of my VA adventure.

5. Internet, of course ! for the possibility to be a VIRTUAL Assistant. :-)

P.S.: Being bilingual, I was probably procrastinating on this project because I thought it would be overwhelming to do it in French and in English. It’s easy! I found a way. ;)
